! Important ! During the Evolve Stage 2 Beta test Tyrants were moved from the game for balancing and refactoring. The ETA is still not known. !
Tyrants are massive predators that resemble an oversized cross between a snapping turtle and a crocodile. If a Hunter gets too close, the Tyrant will seize them in its massive jaw, shake them about, then drag them into the water, where the Hunter will steadily take damage until they are either saved by their teammates or killed by the Tyrant.
Shooting a teammate that is pounced by a Tyrant will eventually free them, but the Tyrant’s pounce animations are longer and more damaging than any other wildlife. Like modern day crocodiles, Tyrants can perform the death roll when they catch their prey. A tyrant will pounce lone hunters or wildlife and then take them into the water where it is capable of a death roll pounce animation that kills any pounced target very quickly. Tyrants devour hunters that they kill whole, leaving no body to revive for Lazarus.

The Elite Tyrant provides a health regeneration perk to both Hunters and Monsters.
The Tyrant buff provides 25 hit points per second to monster. This buff's regeneration effect is paused when the monster takes health damage (taking damage to armor greatly reduces the rate of healing). If this buff heals for the entire duration, it will restore 3000 hit points. The monster version of this buff lasts 2 minutes.
The Tyrant buff provides 40 hit points per second to hunters. Hunters are not healed when incapacitated. The hunter version of this buff lasts 3 minutes.
